Robert – I don’t doubt that phrase is being used, but I never heard it before and brother I gotta tell you, that one really disturbs me. I just commented this morning about how blinded society has become and you’ve just pointed it out in the worst possible way.

Hi Robert -

This overuse of the word FETUS drives me insane… it’s simply an indication as you have said of the need for society to sanitize their own collective conscience over the issue of abortion. If we call the “thing living in a woman’s womb” anything other than “child”, then maybe we can accept its removal for any purpose. This reminds me of Kerry’s absolutely insane juxtaposition of his claims that “human life begins at conception” with his assertion that “the embryo doesn’t have the rights of personhood”.

It’s simply dishonest. These overly sterile clinical terms for “unborn baby” are meant, I think, to make it so we don’t have to think about what “pro choice” really means.

Great post – the terminology used by the press reflects their view of children before birth and is used to perpetuate the self-deception of the American public.
