Schwarzenegger Acknowledges Behaving ‘Badly’ Towards Women

Schwarzenegger Acknowledges Behaving ‘Badly’ Towards Women (washingtonpost.com)

Schwarzenegger said: “Yes, it is true that I was on rowdy movie sets and I have done things that were not right which I thought then was playful but now I recognize that I offended people.”

“Those people that I have offended, I want to say to them I am deeply sorry about that and I apologize because that’s not what I’m trying to do,” he said.

If I were in California, he wouldn’t get my vote, even if that meant losing the election. Character matters for Democrats and Republicans both.

I wonder how the “Religious Right” in California will respond to this news. I wonder if conservative columnists and talk show hosts will publicly criticize Arnold?

Actually, I don’t wonder. I think I know – we’ll ignore it. It exposes us Republicans as hypocritical that we’ll almost certainly turn a blind eye to this, but blasted Clinton over similar behavior. (The impeachment was about obstructing justice and lying under oath, but much of the criticism was for his adultery.)

    eh…. I don’t know…

There is a difference between Clinton and Ahnold..

Shnold at least admitted he acted crassly and stupid…

Clinton played the deny…deny…deny game until it was apparent that he’d be caught in the lie.

This is more akin to the Bush got a DUI two weeks before the election. Ahnold gets props for coming out and admitting that he acted irresponsibly. The populous is fairly forgiving when people admit their crimes and shortcomings…

as to how it will effect the vote… who knows…

  2. You are right that in many ways Clinton was worse. Clinton did lie about it, even under oath. Arnold does indeed deserve “props” for admitting it.

Although he has not committed perjury or lied about this as far as we know, Arnold deserves criticism for his sexual immorality. Much of Clinton’s criticism was for lying and perjury, but a whole lot of it was for the adultery itself. That sort of criticism is equally applicable to Arnold.

Did you notice what Arnold apologized for? He never repents of his sexual sins, but only apologizes because he was accidentally offensive when he just meant to be playful.

His behavior is inexcusable and immoral, and shows his character. We are hypocrites if we do not condemn him for his character, behavior, and failure to repent.

I don’t disagree… if he did sin he should repent of that sin to God… it isn’t required that he make a public confession.

By your logic though, we are hypocrits for every person we vote for, since many of those in the public square are guilty of a litany of sins listed in scripture right alongside sexual immorality.

the first that comes to mind is factions… name one politico that isn’t guilty of that one…

  4. By your logic though, we are hypocrits for every person we vote for

I don’t think it’s hypocritical to accept that politicians, like anyone else, aren’t perfect. But we are very hypocritical for criticizing politician A for one sin, and not criticizing politician B for the same sin, just because of their respective political parties.

My logic does not require perfect politicians, it just requires that we voters be consistent. If sexual immorality warrants vicious criticism, and I think it does, then it does regardless who it is applied to.
