Can't believe I'm doing this, but . . .

"Let us plant ourselves on the hill of Zion and invite the world to come over to us, but never under any circumstances will we go over to them."

This is not only terribly unbiblical but horribly arrogant.
I thank God every day He "deigned" to come to me, for I would never have come to Him on my own.

Jared, I think you've missed the point A.W. Tozer was trying to make. His theme was that of moral and spiritual separation, not evangelism. In saying we should be inviting the world to come to us, and not the reverse scenario, he was only asserting that our posture toward the unbelieving world should be that of those who are firmly established in the eternal blessings of salvation, and who have no need of that which occupies the earthly, unregenrate man. We are the one's who have what the unbelieving world desperately needs, not the other way around.

Yes, Peter, you're absolutely correct! You can criticize Tozer's thoughts and writings any time, but they can never be challenged. His are words so straightforward and that reach to the very heart. Only the wise will and can understand. You may call it "arrogant," but search the New Testament and you'll find Christ speaking like that. Arrogant to an unbelieving heart, but truthful and sweet to those who believe.
